Peter Agg's son, Charles, built three "continuation" cars in the late 80's. The McLaren - Trojan partnership ended in 1974. He recreated the castings and had others build the cars. He gave the cars serial numbers that started where the original run ended.
10-72
11-72
12-72
Harold Drinkwater built a car for Richard Eyre in the 80's. It was built as M8F 8-72 around lineage he bought from Ian Webb, who did not own it. Not only did Webb sell lineage he did not own to Drinkwater, he also sold it to Chuck Lamb. This car claims the history of 8-72, but has an unoriginal s/n tag with 72-09 stamped in it. (the original tag was destroyed in the fire). This was the first F that Drinkwater built and it is not very accurate._
The other Webb car was built by John Collins for Chuck Lamb. In 1990 Webb sold Lamb the lineage, he did not own, along with some of the severely burnt parts that Collins said were not repairable. This car also has a s/n tag claiming 8-72 lineage even though tag was destroyed in the fire. It was referred to as the McLaren from hell because of ground effects and the 10 liter engine.
Paul Canary has built two cars and a chassis. One of the cars was sold with a s/n tag for 6-72. The other one is for sale as the Blue Magic M8E, even though the tub is a reproduction of an M8F. The chassis was built into a car by Chuck Lamb and is owned by Chuck Haines. Canary is currently building two more "F's". Below is the Haines - Lamb car.
John Collins also built two other M8F's and a chassis. One was built for Bill Carey. It showed up at an auction a few years ago but didn't sell.
John Collins also built a car for himself from a tub he built and parts he collected over the years. He finished it as the Commander Motor Homes number 98 but never claimed it was real. This car is currently owned by Lilo Beuzieron.
Collins also built a chassis for Phil Conte who wanted to replace the real M8F he sold. He did not finish the car and this chassis ended up with the Bryants. It was copied by Paul Canary to create their two cars. (this is where Canary learned to build an "F") The Bryants' claimed one car was the Vic Elford M8E and the other the Blue Magic M8E.
When Commander Motor Homes owned the wrecked Hulme team car, the chassis was rebuilt and modified to accept a turbo engine. The original sheet metal (no bulkheads) was cut in half by John Mason. It was later sold to Bill Moir, who built a new tub for Stump Davis. This unoriginal chassis is being turned into and claimed to be Denny's team "F".
An M8F is being built in Australia using the skins from Denny's team car. These skins were all made by John Collins and are not from the original car.
M6GT
No one knows how many reproduction M6GT's have been made. Some are quite accurate copies, others are not. Several have unoriginal S/N tags from other cars and claim real history. The only known real coupes are on the M6GT page. Bill Jongbloed made bodies available in the late 70's when he made molds off a body from Specialized Mouldings. Harold Drinkwater has built several, Allen Korneff built two with parts from McLaren F5000 cars. Several companies made runs of their own chassis with M6GT bodies. We are only concerned with "close" copies that could be passed off as original. Below are some well known replicas.
M6B
Several M6B's have also been built. Bill Kasmer built four cars and claimed Shelby lineage and Bonnier lineage (50-15) on two cars. The car he claimed was 50-15 had Gurney Eagle suspension and wheels and is shown below. Kasmer also built an M6B with a lot of original parts including three original bulkheads from at least two different cars. This car is owned by Robert Ryan.
Two cars were built by Bill Moir that somewhere along the way claimed Prophet lineage. They were numbered 50-17 which is actually the Koveleski car and the other was numbered 50-21, an unassigned number.
Several cars are being raced in Europe that are not original.
M8B
Chuck Haines had Tom Fredricks recreated an M8B from original parts and a chassis Fredricks built.
M8C
An M8C was built claiming Bill Ray lineage. According to Collins, Bill Ray only owned a tube frame car.
M8E
An M8E was built for Henry Alexander claiming Roy Woods history.
